This recent Christmas film tells The Nativity Story, the story of the birth of Jesus. Using images from the film, and the original text of the Bible, we tell the story of Jesus' birth in eight short episodes.
The greatest story ever told. Or at least the start of it. From angels to murderers, sheep to gold not to mention God becomming a human baby, this famous story's got everything but can you remember the right order.
How can one old man hand-deliver presents to 2 billion children in one evening? How can the white-bearded one be here when we just saw him round the corner in his grotto in the shopping centre? Why is 'Santa' an anagram of 'Satan'?
In five short pieces for Christmas, we follow the main characters of the story – Jesus, Mary, Joseph, shepherds and angels, and the wise men – as seen in an Eastern icon of the Nativity. Christmas is so often sentimentalised and made sugary sweet, with cute angels and gurgling babies. We chose this icon, with its unusual take on the Christmas story, to make us take a fresh look at the story of Jesus' birth. Click the pictures below to follow the story of one of the Nativity characters.
